Crêpes ~ $ 10

When bread was scarce in Brittany several hundred years go, the crepe was a good and quick substitute. These large griddle-cooked galettes were made to bulk out simple food- eggs, bacon, sardines and vegetables. Later, white flour became more available and replaced the buckwheat.
